Ruta Castro abaixo A covela

Aprovechando el buen tiempo decidimos ir a pasar el fin de semana a Quiroga. Es un lugar especial y muy bonito donde la naturaleza hace alarde y donde podemos encontrar muchos senderos que están bastante bien señalizados aunque  hay que ir preparados.

Nosotros quisimos hacer la ruta da Cubela pero el tiempo se nos echó encima y tuvimos que acortarla decidiendo hacer solo la mitad que serían , más o menos unos 12km.  El recorrido iba a ser interesante y nos iba a permitir ver el meandro que se forma en el rio a nivel de A Covela.

Empezamos en Castro Abaixo, una aldeíta donde hay que dejar el coche un poco antes de llegar para evitar problemas de movilidad del vehículo.  A partir de allí, empezamos el sendero que ya prometía puesto que íbamos a ir a orillas del Rio Sil. Algo digno de ver.

Empezamos caminando por un senderito estrecho pero seguro al margen del rio donde pudimos ver la belleza de la naturaleza en el lugar. El rio Sil calmo y lleno de patos. Por el sendero que había subiditas y bajadas, nada importante fuimos adentrándonos poco a poco hacia A covela.

Todo el camino estaba lleno de castaños, madroños  de los que disfrutamos sobre todo por las placas de información de naturaleza y fauna que se encontraban por el camino. Sus miradores que nos daban una perspectiva increíble del lugar hacia del recorrido un paseo relativamente tranquilo.

Seguimos el camino hacia os Lagares y en A Pena Tallada pudimos ver la Ribeira dos Lagares donde el zigzagueo del rio era un espectáculo.

Ya quedaba poco para llegar a nuestro destino, A covela. Una aldea muy pintoresca donde no había timbre de llamada en la cafetería y debíamos pegar un grito ( eso lo pone en una tablita en la entrada).

En este lugar los árboles frutales están por doquier, nunca vi un lugar tan fértil. Las higueras en máximo esplendor soltando su aroma característico hacia que el estómago se abriera. Seguimos por la aldea hasta llegar donde se encontraba el meandro puntiagudo. Aquí, si no hacéis el recorrido entero, tendréis que buscar una perspectiva que os permita observar el meandro en pleno y desde luego el mejor lugar en desde un algo.

Una vez llegamos aquí, estuvimos viendo el lugar, que tiene mucho encanto, y luego deshicimos el camino hasta llegar a Castro Baixo de nuevo.

La ruta es sencilla aunque si lleváis un ritmo un poco fuerte como nosotros, puede que sea algo cansado pues sin haber subidas pronunciadas se repiten en todo el sendero.

Yo me divertí mucho y disfrute de un día estupendo espero que si la hacéis vosotros disfrutéis tanto como yo. No olvidar sombrero y agua. La necesitareis.

Castro abaixo A covela Route

Taking advantage of the good weather we decided to spend the weekend in Quiroga. It is a special and very beautiful place where nature flaunts and where we can find many trails that are quite well signposted although you have to go prepared.

We wanted to make the route of Cubela but the time was on us and we had to shorten it by deciding to do only the half that would be, more or less about 12km. The tour was going to be interesting and would allow us to see the meander that forms in the river at the level of A Covela.

We started at Castro Abaixo, a village where you have to leave the car a little before arriving to avoid mobility problems of the vehicle. From there, we started the path that already promised since we were going to go on the banks of the Sil River. Something worth seeing.

We started walking along a narrow but safe path along the river where we could see the beauty of nature in the place. The river Sil calm and full of ducks. On the path that there were ups and downs, nothing important was gradually entering A covela.

The whole road was full of chestnut trees, strawberry trees that we enjoyed especially because of the nature and wildlife information plates that were along the way. Its viewpoints that gave us an incredible perspective of the place towards the tour a relatively quiet walk.

We followed the road to Lagares and in A Pena Tallada we could see the Ribeira dos Lagares where the river zigzagging was a spectacle.

There was little left to reach our destination, A covela. A very picturesque village where there was no call bell in the cafeteria and we had to scream (that puts it on a board at the entrance).

In this place fruit trees are everywhere, I never saw such a fertile place. The fig trees in maximum splendor releasing their characteristic aroma towards the stomach to open. We continue through the village until we reach where the pointed meander was. Here, if you do not do the whole tour, you will have to look for a perspective that allows you to observe the meander in full and of course the best place in from something.

Once we got here, we were seeing the place, which has a lot of charm, and then we broke the road until we reached Castro Baixo again.

The route is simple although if you carry a rhythm a little strong like us, it may be somewhat tired because without having steep climbs they are repeated throughout the path.

I had a lot of fun and enjoy a great day. I hope that if you do it you will enjoy it as much as I do. Do not forget hat and water. You will need it.
