América: Las Vegas

Llegamos a esta ciudad sin saber que la propia ciudad es un espectáculo. 

Lo primero que nos sorprendió fue ver un lugar de turismo, cierto que la mayoría de turistas son nacionales que solo se hablaba inglés. Suerte que de vez en cuando encontrábamos a alguien en el lobby que hablaba español porque eran mejicanos si no… hubiéramos tenido algún problema.

Lo segundo que nos sorprendió fueron las tasas de turismo de los hoteles que eran 45 dólares diarios por habitación y noche más impuestos. Según nos explicaron, el motivo de estas tasas, son debidas a que no hay tantos jugadores como en antaño puesto que hay más casinos en otros lugares y los beneficios no son los mismos pero los gastos son iguales o superiores y los impuestos hay que pagarlos. Como nos dijo un guía, puedes hacer cosas no muy legales pero los impuestos hay que pagarlos o vas a la cárcel si o si.

Por último, los precios en general son increíbles como ejemplo diré que una botella de agua de ¾ de litro cuesta sobre 6 o 7 dólares más impuestos. No olvidemos que en las Vegas el día mas frio en junio puede alcanzar los 38º .

Las Vegas se componen del strip o boulevard donde se ubican casi todos los hoteles y casinos famosos, la parte urbana que es muy extensa y Freemont St.

Pasear por el strip es un estrés. Gente por todos lados, un calor insoportable sobre 41º y del suelo casi saliendo fuego. Es sorprendente ver los espectáculos y las estrellas como Jennifer López, Lady Gaga, DJ Triesto, Cher… pero lo más es visitar los hoteles por dentro, aparte de que es agotador, es sorprendente.

Todos los hoteles se comunican por dentro, pertenezcan a quien pertenezca y es una manera de no pasar calor esos sí, el peligro es pillar una pulmonía porque se pasa de 25º a 40º solo al cruzar una puerta o salir de la encrucijada de pasos por los hoteles. En cada hotel, los de lujo, encuentras las cocinas de los mejores cocineros y más populares del país como Gordon Ramsay, Buddy… y las mejores firmas del mundo como Chanel, Dior, Prada.. solo hace falta una buena cartera para la felicidad completa.

Hay muchos hoteles pero quizás los más impresionantes para mí fueron Venetian, Caesar, Bellagio, Luxor y Mirage. Cada uno tiene su particularidad. El Mirage tiene su volcán que entra en erupción a las 8,9 y 10 de la noche.

Las fuentes de Bellagio bailan al son de la música desde las  18 pm a 24 pm cada 15 minutos. Pero hay otra atracción que es Freemont experience fue lo que más me sorprendió por su diversidad.

El primer hotel que visite fue el Venetian ubicado en la parte Norte del Strip. Es un hotel de lujo que te transporta a la Venecia europea cuando entras en su majestuoso lobby, con sus techos pintados  como  su fueran frescos, sus suelos brillantes… parecía la capilla sixtina. En el exterior podemos disfrutar de unas fotos en las góndolas y lagos que hay con su puente y la plaza de San Marcos . Es increíble. Todo es grande lujoso sin reparar ni en gastos ni detalles.

Uno de los hoteles que más me impresionaron fue el mítico Caeser que es el hotel temático basado en Roma. Lo único que no me gusto de este hotel fue el lobby que es un “batiburrillo” de cosas macro pero cuando te adentras en la zona de shopping empiezas a entrar en la Roma histórica llena de fuentes de tamaño real, calles adoquinadas, edificios clásicos cornados con figuras pero cuando miras al techo y te das cuenta que es un cielo azul con nubes parece que estés a cielo abierto y dentro de Roma. Psicológicamente, es un impacto ya que cuando entras en un hotel del strip pierdes la noción del tiempo y la orientación.

Sin duda alguna, todo está pensado para que no se tenga ninguna necesidad de salir pero también ninguna necesidad de dormir.

Hay otro hotel que me cautivo y fue el Paris, hotel fácil de detectar por la torre Eiffel que posee y su arco del Triunfo. Cuando entras, el ambiente francés te envuelve. Su decoración, edificios y casas típicas francesas, jardines rodeados de casitas francesas, jardines rodeados de edificaciones típicas de diferentes zonas francesas, arboles… zonas para desayunar y oír el piano desde las 6 am hasta las 11pm. Todo es exuberante y lujoso, todo tiene su precio así que si quieren disfrutar no olviden la cartera.

Aunque la ruta hotelera es interesante y aún queda algún hotel más del que hablar os sugiero ir una noche al Freemond Experience St.  Al dirigirte del strip a Freemond pasareis por delante de casi todas las capillas donde os podéis casar por un módico precio, hasta llegar a este lugar, que es una calle techada por neones que muestran imágenes propagandísticas.

En esta calle hay atracciones , actuaciones en vivo, señoritas con poca ropa para hacerse fotos por unos dólares, gente de todo tipo y aspecto, es realmente increíble y merece la pena visitar.  Hace tiempo, no era un lugar muy recomendable pero ahora es diferente y hay más seguridad.

Al día siguiente, visitamos el Bellagio que está inspirado en la Italia del Norte. Para mí, el hotel más elegante en cuanto a caracterización, decorados, vidrieras art deco… es una elegancia sobria y fina, con un diseño muy estudiado y caro,  igual que el precio de una habitación.

No podemos olvidar que estos hoteles son impecables por dentro y es debido a que cada cinco años los renuevan. El Hotel más pequeños tiene unas 2000 habitaciones así que pueden imaginar el desembolso y los beneficios.

He hablado de todo menos de lo casinos. Todos ellos los tienen y no hay forma de evitarlos, hasta para buscar el servicio hay que cruzarlos y no son pequeños. Hay gente a las 6 am, las salas de pocker están abarrotadas y las salas privadas donde el límite de apuesta no existe, también se encuentra gente, que no ves, a cualquier hora. Es la ciudad que nunca duerme.

Hay más hoteles, por ejemplo, el New York que destacaría el bar Coyote Ugly que es divertido para un rato o el hotel Arya que es muy moderno y bonito pero también impersonal aunque elegante.

Como ven, hay para todos los gustos y para varios bolsillos aunque allí sin dinero imposible sobrevivir.

Ah!, no olviden entrar por el Sur de la ciudad la primera vez que vayan, ya que es donde encontraran el famoso luminoso que reza: “Welcome Las Vegas”

We arrived in this city without knowing that the city itself is a spectacle.

The first thing that surprised us was seeing a place of tourism, true that the majority of tourists are nationals who only spoke English. Lucky that from time to time we would find someone in the lobby who spoke Spanish because they were Mexicans, if not ... we would have had some problem.

The second thing that surprised us was the tourism rates of the hotels that were $ 45 per day per room and night plus taxes. As explained, the reason for these fees, are due to the fact that there are not as many players as in the past since there are more casinos in other places and the benefits are not the same but the expenses are equal or higher and the taxes have to be paid. As a guide told us, you can do things that are not very legal but the taxes have to be paid or you go to jail if or if.

Finally, the prices in general are incredible as an example I will say that a bottle of water of ¾ of liter costs about 6 or 7 dollars plus taxes. Let's not forget that in Las Vegas the coldest day in June can reach 38º.

Walking the strip is a stress. People everywhere, an unbearable heat on 41 º and the ground almost fire. It is amazing to see the shows and the stars like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, DJ Triesto, Cher ... but the most is to visit the hotels inside, apart from being exhausting, it is surprising.

All the hotels communicate inside, they belong to who belongs and it is a way of not passing heat those are, the danger is to catch pneumonia because it goes from 25º to 40º only when crossing a door or leaving the crossroads of steps through the Hotels. In each hotel, the luxury ones, you find the kitchens of the best and most popular chefs in the country like Gordon Ramsay, Buddy ... and the best brands in the world such as Chanel, Dior, Prada .. all you need is a good portfolio for complete happiness .

There are many hotels but perhaps the most impressive ones for me were Venetian, Caesar, Bellagio, Luxor and Mirage. Each one has its particularity. The Mirage has its volcano that erupts at 8.9 and 10 at night.

The Bellagio fountains dance to the music from 18pm to 24pm every 15 minutes. But there is another attraction that is Freemont experience was what surprised me most because of its diversity.

The first hotel I visited was the Venetian located on the North side of the Strip. It is a luxury hotel that transports you to the European Venice when you enter its majestic lobby, with its painted ceilings as they were fresh, their floors bright ... it looked like the Sistine Chapel. Outside we can enjoy some pictures in the gondolas and lakes that there are with its bridge and the Plaza de San Marcos. Is incredible. Everything is great luxurious without paying attention to expenses or details.

One of the hotels that most impressed me was the legendary Caeser, which is the thematic hotel based in Rome. The only thing I did not like about this hotel was the lobby which is a "hodgepodge" of macro things but when you enter the shopping area you start to enter the historic Rome full of life-size fountains, cobbled streets, classic buildings with figures but when you look at the ceiling and you realize that it is a blue sky with clouds it seems that you are in the open and inside Rome. Psychologically, it is an impact because when you enter a strip hotel you lose track of time and orientation.

Without a doubt, everything is designed so that there is no need to leave but also no need to sleep.

There is another hotel that captivated me and it was the Paris, hotel easy to detect by the Eiffel tower that it has and its Arc de Triomphe. When you enter, the French environment envelops you. Its decoration, buildings and typical French houses, gardens surrounded by French houses, gardens surrounded by typical buildings of different French areas, trees ... breakfast areas and hear the piano from 6 am to 11pm. Everything is exuberant and luxurious, everything has its price so if you want to enjoy do not forget your wallet.

Although the hotel route is interesting and there is still some more hotel to talk about I suggest going one night to the Freemond Experience St. By going from the strip to Freemond you will pass in front of almost all the chapels where you can get married for a small fee, until you arrive to this place, which is a street covered by neons that show propaganda images.

In this street there are attractions, live performances, ladies with little clothes to take pictures for a few dollars, people of all types and looks, it is really amazing and worth visiting. A long time ago, it was not a highly recommended place but now it is different and there is more security.

The next day, we visited the Bellagio, which is inspired by Northern Italy. For me, the most elegant hotel in terms of characterization, decorations, art deco stained glass ... is a sober and fine elegance, with a very studied and expensive design, like the price of a room.

We can not forget that these hotels are impeccable inside and it is because they renew them every five years. The smaller hotel has about 2000 rooms so you can imagine the disbursement and the benefits.

I've talked about everything except the casinos. They all have them and there is no way to avoid them, even to look for the service you have to cross them and they are not small. There are people at 6 am, the pocker rooms are crowded and the private rooms where the bet limit does not exist, there are also people, who do not see, at any time. It is the city that never sleeps.

There are more hotels, for example, the New York that would highlight the Coyote Ugly bar that is fun for a while or the Arya hotel that is very modern and beautiful but also impersonal although elegant.

As you can see, there are for all tastes and for several pockets although there without money impossible to survive.

Ah !, do not forget to enter the South of the city the first time you go, since that is where you will find the famous luminous that reads: "Welcome Las Vegas"
