2.- Invitar a casa a quien
3.- A medida

Lagom: New Nordic movement
We have been
talking about those movements that help us achieve that balance so necessary to
be happy in life. One of them was called HYGGE but now a new one called LAGOM
has appeared.
Initially, the
hygge and Likke movements developed by the Danish Meik Wiking, Linnea Dunne
joins and presents the Lagom: Swedish recipe to reach the balance to be happy.
In order to
get an idea of what we are talking about, Lagom is something like getting the
midpoint of things, situations, status ... no less is more, nor the more the
better. Above all moderation. That is the essence of the Swedish movement that
is causing furor. Knowing when it is enough is the important thing in life and
not getting carried away by anything else if it is not necessary.
Apparently,
talking about the middle point is simple but finding the balance between
family, personal, work and social life is not so much. Respecting work and
personal schedules is essential to start implementing the practice of Lagom and
only we can start putting red lines gaining ground to the bad habit.
One day a week
we have to dedicate it to the people we want, be at home comfortably
(fredagsmys), the distribution of domestic tasks must be equitable so that both
can enjoy their time, exercise and take care of themselves, participate in
collective activities to encourage the sociability, go outdoors to oxygenate
... dress comfortably but well, decorate the house with pleasure but without
giving us the feeling of overwhelm, buy what we need but no more. These are
some guidelines to follow to achieve this standard of peace and balance in life
so that we feel comforted and happy.
Within the
workplace, companies are very horizontal and that means that there are not as
many labor tensions and internal trafficking is more flexible and simple. But
let us not forget that the Nordic mentality in front of the labor aspects as
the ascents or not promotions are lived in another way and are prepared, from
very small, to another type of labor culture that ours.
Actually, the
Lagom is the way to do things with common sense, responsibility and without
excesses. It is not necessary to do anything extraordinary but if it requires a
different base culture than ours. That does not mean that our cultural base is
worse but it is very different and that makes the reactions and confrontations
to reality affect us differently.
The keys are
simple:
1.- It's about
working to live. A custom in companies is the FIKA or break for coffee.
Use the
bicycle to go to work forgetting the car. You have to exercise to wake up the
endorphins.
2.- Invite
home whoever you want one day a week and each one bring something to eat and
share. Not out of necessity but to exchange effort, friendship, time ... show
that you accept the invitation because you want to go not for education or
commitment.
3.- Belonging
to a club is tennis, trekking, art, reading ... socializing, talking and
interacting with other people is important to open up, learn to share, smile
and get to know other opinions ... enjoy a common activity and akin to all.
Enjoy nature,
walk, sunbathe, eat outdoors ...
Do not use the
purchase as a flight to frustration. Buy what is necessary. Do not spend to
spend, live experiences and deal with situations not denying them or offering a
wrong outlet.
Boredom is not
ruled out, none of that, in being Lagom you have to get bored. We can not turn
our backs on any feeling or emotion. It is necessary to approach everyone to
avoid giving undue importance to any of them. It is necessary to de-dramatize
the fears, the emotional impulses, the taboos ... only this way it will be easier
to approach them and be able to create a better atmosphere to speak.
However, you
have to be a little cautious with the topics that are chosen socially, and
people opinions about politics and religion. No jokes are made about feminism
or homosexuality .. it is preferable to be silent before speaking and offending
because of ignorance. It is a conscience to the neighbor.
Silence is a
good ally, thinking and reflecting on the lived or spoken, loneliness is also
part of the Lagom because it helps us acceptance.
Lagom is not
only that we feel good with ourselves, it is also based on others feel good
respecting beliefs, opinions and tastes. Avoiding confrontations
As you can see
everything is the most rational and normal but to follow these steps we should
go back a bit in time to stay with the good of yesteryear and avoid the noxious
of modernity. Only then we will not feel overwhelmed and we can share a fuller
life with those who love and love us.
The benefits
of lagom, according to Linnea Dunne would be:
1.- A moderate
and conscious consumption makes it easier to have a clear home, which becomes a
quieter place.
2.- When you
learn to distance yourself and make your mind stop spinning, you can live life
in a more authentic and focused way, accepting and facing experiences, both
good and bad.
3.- As
consciousness grows, consumption is lower learning to take care of resources
and save.
4.- The best
relationship with neighbors and the trust in collective responsibilities, a
lagom attitude can help to feel part of something bigger by providing a raison
d'être.
Lagom
encourages self-sufficiency and active consideration towards others based on
respecting distances, but the bad side is that it also feeds a deep loneliness
and may lose the sense of community.
