No olvidemos
digeribles.

Macrobiotics: more than a fad diet
Much was said
about Macrobiotics, a discipline that was on everyone's lips for quite some
time three or four years ago. But this way of feeding is defined as the art of
longevity and healthy life. It is a way of life achieving an emotional,
physical and spiritual balance. But following a macrobiotic diet is not
difficult and is based on cereals and vegetables.
One of the
pioneers of the Macrobiotics Georges Ohsawa, studied and analyzed the
relationship between food, environment and health coming to the conclusion that
the most important part to stay healthy is feeding the link with nature and the
universe.
This
discipline and way of life teaches us the correct way to choose and prepare
food using the philosophy of yin and yang. What he proposes is that we can all
enjoy a long, healthy and vital life and only with food can we achieve that
state of balance. But for that, let me give you a brushstroke of the yin and
yang personality to be able to locate us.
Yang is the
concentration of energy, dynamic, active, positive people. Yang foods contain
more sodium, have a salty or spicy flavor and have a very high degree of
alkalinity.
The ying are
not so energetic, they are passive, somewhat negative ... the foods considered
yin contain more potassium, acid flavors, bitter and very sweet or aromatic
with a higher degree of acidity.
However, these
two definitions, in a rough way, do not mean that a person is in a yin or yang
state all day because the changes of season, sun, night will influence them and
therefore, in each moment, they will need a certain diet. and not always the
same.
That means,
that the macrobiotic, also requires our own listening to know at all times what
we need and what foods would be most appropriate according to our mood. The
preparations of the same, will also influence.
That said, to
be able to prepare balanced meals you should combine several ingredients with
each other. But both types of food can be modified using fire, pressure and
cooking time.
Macrobiotic
cuisine is governed by dietary rules which we must adjust to our lives so that
we provide that balance and health we seek. But we have to know that our food
needs are determined by the geographical and climatic situation, by our
physical activity and our constitution.
However, to
practice macrobiotics, it is necessary to know well the food but not only the
nutritional aspect of each one, also the modern methods of treatment and
refining of the food since some of these products can remove substance or
nutrients to the products that choose as healthy to nourish us, if we only
settle to know a part of said product. Do not forget that macrobiotics is a
whole, nutritional contributions, cooking methods, that is, knowing how to
prepare the product to maintain all its nutrients and how the product is
treated throughout its cultivation.
It is
important to remember that the elaboration and refinement of food can deprive
it of its nutritional components by unbalancing them, therefore, it is
important to consume whole products.
If the product
is "unbalanced", it means that it could cause an alteration in the
digestive process and cause problems that would have to correct the drugs,
therefore, we would be facing a consumption of products that far from curing or
healing us, would produce problems. Trying to use integral and biological
products or at least, products from our nearby garden, would make our health
improve a little more.
There is a
biological law that says that animal life depends on the plant kingdom since it
is plants that transform natural raw materials into digestible elements.
