Ruta Sendero dos Caneiros de Begonte a Baamonde.

El domingo pasado, 28 de Noviembre hicimos un sendero sorpresa ya que el que tocaba no se pudo hacer debido al mal tiempo y la nieve. Decidimos hacer el sendero dos caneiros empezando en Begonte.

El día no era bueno, hacia frio pero todo el grupo estábamos entusiasmados por visitar el Rio Ladra y ver los caneiros así que empezamos nuestra ruta cogiendo como referencia inicial Begonte y el indicador de la playa fluvial que se encontraba al lado de un bar que hacía esquina.  

Este recorrido transcurre por la ribera del rio Ladra, desde Begonte hasta Baamonde , donde pudimos disfrutar, a pesar de las inclemencias del tiempo,  de una belleza natural incomparable, agua, flora y fauna.

Continuamos hacia la playa fluvial que es pequeña pero bonita con espacios naturales muy bien equipados para las familias, bancos, mesas y parque infantil dentro de un paraje natural precioso y saludable.

Fuimos siguiendo el sendero estrecho por la ribera del rio quedando este, a nuestra izquierda y la verdad es que solo es necesario fijarse donde ponemos los pies y en el propio rio y su flora. Todo el camino estaba cubierto por árboles, castaños, pino radial, abedules, humedales, robles… y con muchas evidencias de jabalíes aunque la fauna de este lugar es infinito.

Aquí es donde pudimos ver los caneiros que son construcciones para retener o desviar los cauces del rio, generalmente para llevarlas a un molino pero también sirven para pescar con sus formas de V donde se marcaban las redes. En algunos casos estas construcciones poseían una especie de casetos que servían para guardar los utensilios de pesca y se resguardaban los pescadores ya que es zona de mucha lluvia. La pesca se basaba en la anguila aunque casi ha desaparecido.

También podemos decir que durante todo el recorrido encontramos setas, no comestibles, de tamaños realmente grandes que nos sorprendieron y también setas comestibles. 

Continuamos con el recorrido saliendo a la carretera para poder visitar los ojos de Begonte, dos lagos (se estima unos 38 metros de profundidad) cargados de mitos y leyendas: “Se dice que sirvió de foso de soldados franceses derrotados, que para buscarle el fondo usaron siete cuerdas y un pote de hierro lleno de piedras y no se lo encontraron, que el agua sube y baja con las mareas, que cayeron animales dentro y nunca jamás se supo de ellos, que hay caparazones de pescados, y que allí viven sumergidas tres hermanas encantadas”. Ya sabéis que esto es Galicia y no sería lo mismo si no existieran esas leyendas tan apasionantes, algunas.

Luego, bordeando pasamos a los Lagos del Rio Caldo que están cerca de los ojos Begonte (lagunas), que se encuentran entre las parroquias de Begonte e Pacios. Os puedo decir que el lugar merece la pena y que su riqueza natural bien pide una visita respetuosa de todos nosotros. El camino se puede hacer con niños sin riesgos aunque hay que tener cuidado, y sus puentes de madera que se encuentran durante todo el recorrido hace de este lugar algo muy singular y pintoresco.

En este lago se pueden avistar  garzas, cormoranes, aves migratorias… pura belleza natural. Seguimos nuestro camino por un sendero entre matorrales, zarzas, menta… que daban aroma a todo nuestro recorrido.

Todo el recorrido está señalizado pero es bueno, si se decide hacerla, chequear un mapa y estudiar el recorrido ya que la maleza es alta y no siempre se ven bien las sendas aunque la señalización es buena.

Al llegar a Baamonde podemos visitar la iglesia románica de

Santiago del siglo XIII y luego tomar un refresco y disfrutar de la paz del lugar.

Last Sunday, November 28, we made a surprise path because the one who played could not be done due to bad weather and snow. We decided to make the trail two caneiros starting at Begonte.

The day was not good, it was cold but the whole group were excited to visit the Rio Ladra and see the caneiros so we started our route taking as initial reference Begonte and the indicator of the river beach that was next to a bar that was corner. 

This route runs along the banks of the river Ladra, from Begonte to Baamonde, where we could enjoy, despite the inclemency of the weather, an incomparable natural beauty, water, flora and fauna.

We continue towards the fluvial beach that is small but beautiful with natural spaces very well equipped for families, benches, tables and playground inside a beautiful and healthy natural area.

We followed the narrow path along the river bank, leaving this one on our left and the truth is that it is only necessary to look where we put our feet and in the river itself and its flora. All the way was covered by trees, chestnut trees, radial pine, birches, wetlands, oaks ... and with many evidences of wild boars although the fauna of this place is infinite.

This is where we could see the caneiros that are constructions to retain or divert the river channels, generally to take them to a mill but they also serve to fish with their V shapes where the nets were marked. In some cases these constructions possessed a sort of cassettes that were used to store the fishing tools and the fishermen were safeguarded since it is a zone of a lot of rain. The fishing was based on the eel although it has almost disappeared.

We can also say that during the whole tour we found mushrooms, inedible, of really big sizes that surprised us and also edible mushrooms. 

We continue with the road trip to visit the eyes of Begonte, two lakes (estimated 38 meters deep) loaded with myths and legends: "It is said that served as a pit of defeated French soldiers, to find the background they used seven ropes and an iron pot full of stones and they did not find it, that the water rises and falls with the tides, that animals fell inside and never heard from them, that there are fish shells, and that they live there submerged three enchanted sisters " You already know that this is Galicia and it would not be the same if there were not such exciting legends, some.

Then, bordering we go to the Lakes of the Rio Caldo that are close to the eyes of Begonte (lagoons), which are located between the parishes of Begonte and Pacios. I can tell you that the place is worthwhile and that its natural wealth well asks for a respectful visit from all of us. The road can be done with children without risks although you have to be careful, and its wooden bridges that are found throughout the tour makes this place very unique and picturesque.

In this lake you can see herons, cormorants, migratory birds ... pure natural beauty. We followed our path through a path between bushes, brambles, mint ... that gave aroma to our entire route.

The whole route is signposted but it is good, if you decide to do it, check a map and study the route as the brush is high and the paths are not always good although the signaling is good.

Upon arriving in Baamonde we can visit the Romanesque church of Santiago from the 13th century and then have a drink and enjoy the peace of the place.
