favorables.

Inequalities and wage gaps in sport
We are in a
period of "empowerment of women", where everything is polemicized,
where everyone talks and thinks, where "anything" related to women is
"tipped" but the reality is that while we "burn" the issue
and we wear a reality that we have been suffering for many years, the society
and the masculine and FEMALE mentality, does not change. That means that far
from reacting and fixing things, we continue to let them die but that if they
let us scream, manifest and leave with banners, even make races with colored
shirts ... I guess because it is, after all, a business. Women have always been
a business for society, the problem is that we continue to buy the cheap policy
that sells us that society thinking that we move forward but we are still in
the same place with more noise but with less nuts.
That said,
because I think it is necessary to say it and I will not get tired of it, let's
talk about an article that came out in Mujerhoy on July 29, 2017 where he
talked about different cases (there are many unfortunately) of elite athletes
demonstrated with results, that they continue to win podiums but not money like
their male acolytes.
However, we
must say that Tennis is the exception that confirms the rule. It is one of the
few sports where the prizes are the same for men as for women, that is, that
was from 2007. But not everything was idyllic since on January 2016 the tournament
director Masters 1000 Indian Wells, Raymond Moore, said In an interview:
"If I were a tennis player, I would kneel every night and give thanks to
God for Roger Federer and Rafa Nadas. They are the ones who have carried the
weight of this sport. In my next life I want to be part of the WTA (the Women's
World Tennis Association) because they take advantage of the success of men.
" Although Novak Djokovic was not left out making discriminatory
statements. Perhaps we should explain to both of them that the fact that women
are in a minority is thanks to so many years of prohibitions, oppressions and
difficulties established by a society dominated by men.
But let's
start with the comparisons, which are always odious and necessary. In the
Spanish women's basketball team. In June 2017, European champions, Olympic
medals in Rio ... a total of 14 medals in 10 years. One of the Spanish stars
who play in the WNBA received around 40,000 dollars for four months while other
Spanish stars who play in the NBA charge up to 15 million dollars per year.
There are
first division soccer players who charge 1000 euros, if they charge them,
without sponsorship options or image rights, with which they can not save any
money. In some cases, his name appears in FIFA video games without charging a
euro.
The Atlético
de Madrid players, Iberdrola league champions in 2017 and in the highest
category received an extra 45 euros to win the title. That same week Real
Madrid rewarded all its players with a bonus of 300,000 euros per head to win
the league. For that reason, many players choose to go to play in America,
France, Sweden, Germany ... where conditions are more favorable.
"Sportswomen
do not have money because we do not have visibility, and we do not have
visibility because it is limited to men's sports," says Mar Mas, President
of the Women in Professional Sports Association.
If all this
were not enough we could talk about the "pregnancy clause", which
allows the club to break its bond with the player if it is going to be a
mother. On the other hand, the Basque Country has been a pioneer in continuing
to pay scholarships to high level athletes during pregnancy and after birth.
"Before, pregnancy was considered an injury and the athlete was not
paid."

Nievas is a Rugby referee and in 2016 was chosen as the best Rugby of the World
referee by the international federation. "I came to hear that I had only
received the award for being a woman." Nievas, is 35 years old and was
also a player, has 11 as referee and is the only woman among the judges of the
highest national category of male rugby. "Everyone looks at you with a
magnifying glass," he says. "I have a contract with the international
federation, which pays me a salary. But my colleagues have their jobs from Monday
to Friday, and arbitrate in the highest categories on weekends. I'm an
exception. "
As we see,
things move very slowly, so much that it is not perceived. It is talked about,
it is claimed and denounced, now it becomes something more visible but ... when
we will see a change of truth towards a more egalitarian future for the same
work, effort and results, regardless of sex?
