Hoy hemos
hecho un tramo del camino de Santiago correspondiente al camino inglés. En
total 10.5 km donde hemos encontrado un poco de todo. Castaños, árboles
frutales, rías y playas… no se puede pedir más y sobre todo, cultura y
caminantes de diferentes lugares con los que hemos compartido minutos
entrañables y divertidos. Es todo una experiencia. Somos “los jubilados por el Mundo”.
Partiendo de
Miño y siguiendo las indicaciones del camino de Santiago, todo el recorrido fue
fácil y agradable. No hay perdida. Decimos adiós al núcleo principal de Miño
para cruzar las vías, donde tenemos una panorámica de la ría de Betanzos y la
desembocadura del río Lambre, que cruzaremos más adelante. Tras el puente sobre
el ferrocarril giramos para retomar el rumbo (punto sin señalización) y pegados
a un muro pasamos por el lugar de A Ponte do Porco. A la derecha se encuentra
la playa de la Alameda, calificada como Lugar de Importancia Comunitaria .
Cruzamos el
río Lambre por el Ponte do Porco, que divide los Concellos de Miño y Paderne.
También fue levantado por orden del bueno de Pérez de Andrade y el nombre de
porco o jabalí hace referencia a uno de los emblemas de su linaje. Tendremos
oportunidad de ver el sepulcro de Andrade en la iglesia de San Francisco de
Betanzos, sostenido por las figuras de un jabalí y un oso.
Tras el
puente, ya en el Concello de Paderne, nos desviamos a mano izquierda junto a
unas casas. Nos recibe otra brutal rampa de asfalto que sube hasta el parque
infantil de Montecelo. Ojo, junto al parque giramos a mano izquierda y
descendemos por una pista sombreada. Un tramo bastante agradable que, después
de un giro a la derecha, asciende hasta Montecelo, donde pasamos entre la
iglesia de San Pantaleón das Viñas, que conserva la portada románica, y el pazo
.
A 80 metros
llegamos al lugar de Trasmil y giramos a mano izquierda para avanzar hasta el
próximo Os Barreiros. ¡Atención! porque en este punto el itinerario gira 90º a
mano derecha y es muy fácil despistarse y seguir de frente. Descendemos hasta
el lugar de Porto de Abaixo, frente al café Navedo al pie de la N-651, donde
paramos a tomar un café y donde podemos acceder a un sello del camino.
Andamos 120
metros por el arcén y dejamos la N-651 por la izquierda, afrontando así una
rampa que pasa por A Penoubiña, primer lugar de la parroquia de Santa María de
Souto, y posteriormente por Chantada .
Giramos a mano izquierda junto a una marquesina del autobús y proseguimos por
camino herboso, primero, y pista asfaltada, después, hacia los lugares de Vila
de Meus y Gas, con una fuente
Entramos así
en el Concello de Betanzos, visitando por pistas vecinales A Rúa y San Paio,
con vistas de la ría y la desembocadura del río Mandeo para llegar junto a la
iglesia románica de San Martiño de Tiobre. Bien merece una visita esta joya
citada ya en el siglo IX. Está situada en la parte más elevada del castro de
Tiobre, donde al parecer estuvo el primitivo núcleo de Betanzos, y fue
consagrada en el siglo XII por el primer arzobispo de Santiago, Don Diego
Gelmírez. Encontramos una excelente estudio y descripción del templo en el
Anuario Brigantino de manos de María del Pilar Carrillo .
Giramos a la
derecha junto a la entrada del recinto y, pasando junto al parque infantil, bajamos
por O Barral y la empinada cuesta de Sabugueiro hasta los molinos de Caraña.
Cruzamos el cauce del mismo nombre y por el camino de Refoxo vamos a dar a la
calle de Nosa Señora do Camiño, donde está este templo renacentista también
conocido como Os Remedios. Cruzando el puente viejo sobre el río Mandeo
entramos en Betanzos por la porta da Ponte Vella, una de las cinco de la
antigua muralla. Tras ella giramos a mano izquierda y subimos por la empedrada
rúa de Prateiros. Arriba, en lugar de entrar en la Plaza de los hermanos García
Naveira, torcemos a la derecha por la rúa do Castro y tras pasar el
Ayuntamiento nos dirigimos hacia la plaza mayor para tomar una cerveza y probar
la típica tortilla de Betanzos que , casualmente, era la semana del concurso de
la tortilla.
Esta es una
manera de visitar y hacer el camino por tramos pequeños y cómodos de pocos
kilómetros pero no deja de ser menos bonito. Cada uno debe hacer el camino de

Path: from
Miño to Betanzos
Today we have
made a section of the Camino de Santiago corresponding to the English road. In
total 10.5 km where we have found a bit of everything. Chestnuts, fruit trees,
estuaries and beaches ... you can not ask for more and above all, culture and
walkers from different places with which we have shared endearing and fun
minutes. It's all an experience. We are "retired for the World".
Starting from
Miño and following the indications of the Camino de Santiago, the whole route
was easy and pleasant. There's no way to get lost. We say goodbye to the main
nucleus of Miño to cross the tracks, where we have a panoramic view of the
Betanzos estuary and the mouth of the Lambre river, which we will cross later.
After the bridge over the railway we turn to take the course (point without
signaling) and next to a wall we pass through the place of A Ponte do Porco. To
the right is the Alameda beach, classified as a Site of Community Importance.
We cross the
river Lambre by the Ponte do Porco, which divides the Concellos de Miño and
Paderne. Also it was raised by order of the good one of Perez de Andrade and
the name of porco or wild boar makes reference to one of the emblems of its
lineage. We will have the opportunity to see the tomb of Andrade in the church
of San Francisco de Betanzos, supported by the figures of a boar and a bear.
After the
bridge, already in the Concello de Paderne, we deviate to the left next to some
houses. We get another brutal asphalt ramp that goes up to the playground of
Montecelo. Eye, next to the park we turn to the left and descend a shaded
track. A quite pleasant stretch that, after a right turn, ascends to Montecelo,
where we pass between the church of San Pantaleón das Viñas, which preserves
the Romanesque portal, and the pazo.
After 80
meters we reach the place of Trasmil and turn left to advance to the next Os
Barreiros. Attention! because at this point the itinerary turns 90º on the
right hand side and it is very easy to get lost and keep going straight ahead.
We descend to the place of Porto de Abaixo, in front of the Navedo cafe at the
foot of the N-651, where we stop for a coffee and where we can access a road
seal.
We walk 120
meters along the shoulder and leave the N-651 on the left, facing a ramp that
goes through A Penoubiña, first place in the parish of Santa María de Souto,
and later by Chantada. We turn left next to a bus shelter and continue along a
grassy path, first, and asphalted track, then, towards the places of Vila de
Meus y Gas, with a fountain of 1884.
We entered in
the Concello de Betanzos, visiting by neighborhood tracks A Rúa and San Paio,
with views of the estuary and the mouth of the River Mandeo to arrive next to
the Romanesque church of San Martiño de Tiobre. Well worth a visit this jewel
cited already in the ninth century. It is located in the highest part of the
Castro de Tiobre, where apparently the primitive nucleus of Betanzos was, and
was consecrated in the 12th century by the first archbishop of Santiago, Don
Diego Gelmírez. We found an excellent study and description of the temple in
the Brigantine Yearbook by María del Pilar Carrillo.
We turn to the
right next to the entrance of the enclosure and, happening next to the
playground, we go down by O Barral and the steep slope of Sabugueiro until the
mills of Caraña. We cross the river of the same name and along the road of
Refoxo we go to the street of Nosa Señora do Camiño, where this Renaissance
temple is also known as Os Remedios. Crossing the old bridge over the river
Mandeo we enter Betanzos through the Porta da Ponte Vella, one of the five of
the old wall. After it we turn left and go up the cobbled Rua de Prateiros. Up,
instead of entering the Square of the García Naveira brothers, we turn right into
the Castro street and after passing the Town Hall we go to the main square to
have a beer and try the typical Betanzos omelette that, coincidentally, It was
the week of the tortilla contest.
This is a way
to visit and make the way by small and comfortable sections of a few kilometers
but it is still less beautiful. Each one must make the way in a way that asks
