SENDERO RIO CALDO Y LOS MILIARIOS

Estuvimos visitando Orense de nuevo, aunque esta vez de
otra manera. Nos fuimos tres días de excursión y elegimos como cuartel general la aldea de Porqueiros donde encontramos un hotel rural estupendo.

Un lugar especial donde los lugareños intentan mezclarse con los foráneos consiguiendo un ambiente familiar y placentero.

Es una zona maravillosa envuelta de naturaleza totalmente salvaje y rodeado de agua. La primera ruta que hicimos fue el sendero de Rio Caldo y la Corga da Fecha  para ver la calzada romana y los miliarios, algo no usual.

Nos dirigimos hacia Lobios y de allí llegamos al Balneario de Rio Caldo. Allí dejamos aparcado el coche y seguimos la carretera andando , adentrándonos hacia la parte del bosque.

Veremos que hay un poste informativo sobre el sendero de la zona. 

Este trecho, como casi todo el camino, estará flanqueado por frondosa arboleda y vegetación pero a pocos metros ya podremos ver a mano derecha “ los baños romanos” en su origen con un ejemplo de arquitectura 

Una vez visto el lugar, el cual es muy interesante, seguiremos el sendero que está bien señalizado con una raya amarilla y blanca ( ojo con no despistarse).
 Veremos una bifurcación, cuidado y no cruzar el puente, si lo que queréis ver es la Corga y la calzada romana (que tendremos el privilegio de andar por ella) sin olvidarnos de algo excepcional como son los miliarios.

Al llegar a esa bifurcación hay que ir a la izquierda y seguir las indicaciones, si continuamos recto llegaremos , por el sendero, a la calzada romana, paseo increíble ya que el día que fuimos hizo mucho sol… plena primavera con 30 grados. Así que disfrutamos del entorno. 

Sin dejar la calzada llegará un momento que saldremos a la carretera, habrá que andar unos 100 metros y allí veréis los miliarios, que es un conjunto de columnas cilíndricas verticales de granito. Durante el paseo, que no tiene dificultad podréis observar gran cantidad de tonos verdes diferentes, flores, orquídeas silvestres pitiminí… es todo un espectáculo y siempre rodeados de agua y su sonido relajante.

Todo este sendero se puede hacer circular aunque entonces se convierte en una caminata de 17 km. Nosotros retrocedimos lo andado para volver a la bifurcaciones, con lo cual, esta caminata se convirtió en unos 4 o 6 km. Una vez en la bifurcación, cogeremos el camino que nos llevará a la Corga da Fecha, una cascada imponente a la que merece la pena llegar y contemplar.

El tiempo que se emplea para ir a la Corga no es mucho , yo diría que unos 10 minutos 

pero si decidís subir hasta arriba entonces si es larga y muy dura. Sobre todo, cuidado, es muy empinado, resbaladizo y hay que fijarse bien en las indicaciones ya que no están muy visibles aunque existen. Eso ya es decisión de cada uno. Diréis: “para que subir?” pues bien, si se sube podréis ver donde nace la caída de agua, lo cual es interesante pero duro.

La naturaleza y su poder se hace patente en este lugar donde las pozas naturales , la fuerza del agua, la cantidad de agua que ahora es mucha hace que sea un lugar idílico pero no por ello hay que bajar la guardia.

Al terminar decidimos tomar una cañita y asi poder descansar y deleitarnos con el lugar. Después de descansar decidimos visitar el campamento romano y las termas naturales pero debido a la crecida del agua no pudimos ver nada ya que todo estaba cubierto, ni siquiera el arco era visible. Fue algo increíble.

Nos comentaron que el mejor momento era verano-otoño aunque este año veremos si podrá ser o no . Ya os contaré. No os perdáis las maravillas naturales que ofrece esta provincia.

TREKKING  RIO CALDO AND THE MILIARIES

We were visiting Orense again, although this time in a different way.

We went three days of excursion and we chose as headquarters the village of Porqueiros where we found a great rural hotel.

A special place where the locals try to mix with the foreigners getting a familiar and pleasant atmosphere.

It is a wonderful area surrounded by wild nature and surrounded by water. The first route we took was the path of Rio Caldo and the Corga da Fecha to see the Roman road and the milestones, something unusual.

We go to Lobios and from there we arrive at the Balneario de Rio Caldo. There we leave the car parked and follow the road walking, entering the forest.

We will see that there is an information post on the path of the area. 

This stretch, like almost all the way, will be flanked by leafy trees and vegetation but a few meters away we can see on the right "the Roman baths" in its origin with an example of architecture.

Once you see the place, which is very interesting, we will follow the path that is well signposted with a yellow and white stripe (be careful not to get lost) .We will see a fork, careful not to cross the bridge, if what you want to see is the Corga and the Roman road (we will have the privilege of walking through it) without forgetting something exceptional like the miliarios.

When you reach that fork you have to go to the left and follow the signs, if you continue straight we will arrive, along the path, to the Roman road, an incredible walk since the day we went there was a lot of sun ... full spring with 30 degrees. So we enjoyed the environment.

Without leaving the road there will be a moment that we will go out onto the road, we will have to walk about 100 meters and there you will see the milestones, which is a set of vertical cylindrical granite columns. During the walk, which has no difficulty, you will be able to see lots of different green tones, flowers, wild pitimini orchids ... it is a spectacle and always surrounded by water and its relaxing sound.

All this trail can be circulated although then it becomes a 17 km walk. We retraced our steps to return to the bifurcations, with which, this walk became about 4 or 6 km. Once at the fork, we will take the road that will take us to the Corga da Fecha, an imposing waterfall that is worth reaching and contemplating.

The time that is used to go to the Corga is not much, I would say about 10 minutes but if you decide to go up then it is long and very hard. Above all, beware, it is very steep, slippery and you have to pay attention to the indications as they are not very visible although they exist. That is the decision of each one. You will say: "so that to raise?" Well, if it rises you will be able to see where the fall of water is born, which is interesting but hard.

Nature and its power is evident in this place where the natural pools, the strength of the water, the amount of water that is now a lot makes it an idyllic place but that does not mean you have to lower your guard.

At the end we decided to take a straw and so be able to rest and enjoy the place. After resting we decided to visit the Roman camp and the natural hot springs but due to the rising water we could not see anything since everything was covered, not even the arch was visible. It was something incredible .

They told us that the best time was summer-autumn although this year we will see if it can be or not. I'll tell you. Do not miss the natural wonders that this province offers.
