LA ULTIMA BARBARIDAD QUE HE OIDO

No hace mucho estuve leyendo una revista y me encontré

con un pequeño artículo que decía así:  “ La culpa de la menopausia la tienen los hombres”…. Es porque eligen a las más jóvenes como pareja.

La verdad es que el comienzo no tiene desperdicio alguno pero lo más increíble es que según el artículo esto lo dijo un equipo de biólogos de la Universidad McMaster, Canadá liderados por el Dr. Rama Singh.

Pero esto no es todo, aquí os dejo otro artículo de un periódico que habla de lo mismo pero con una  opinión más sobre el mismo tema “estudios” de genética evolutiva.

Sofocos, sudores, cambios de humor… en términos evolutivos, podría culparse a los hombres de haber causado la menopausia y sus efectos secundarios, según los resultados de un estudio científico.

Un equipo de genetistas evolutivos de la Universidad canadiense de McMaster dice que la tendencia de los hombres a escoger parejas más jóvenes hizo que la fertilidad se convirtiera en algo inútil para las mujeres de mayor edad, dando lugar eventualmente a la menopausia.

Los resultados de su estudio se publicaron en la revista especializada PLOS Computational Biology.

Pero un experto británico asegura que la correlación se dio “al revés”: que los hombres escogen parejas más jóvenes porque las mujeres mayores son menos fértiles. –como si a los hombres les interesara la fertilidad, precisamente-.

¿“APAREAMIENTO PREFERENCIAL”?…

Hace tiempo que los científicos se preguntan por qué los humanos son prácticamente la única especie en la que la fertilidad de las hembras no dura toda la vida.

Teorías anteriores habían propuesto la hipótesis del “efecto abuela”. En ellas se sugiere que las mujeres pierden su fertilidad cuando llegan a una edad en la que podrían no llegar a ver crecer a un hijo, pero en cambio sí podrían cuidar de los hijos de mujeres más jóvenes.

En esas hipótesis se ve la menopausia como el fenómeno que evita que las mujeres mayores sigan reproduciéndose.

Pero este nuevo estudio canadiense invierte el razonamiento, al sugerir que fue la falta de reproducción la que generó la menopausia.

Mediante el uso de modelos informáticos, el equipo de McMaster concluyó que la respuesta evolutiva al interrogante sobre la menopausia está en “el apareamiento preferencial”: los hombres de todas las edades escogen como pareja a mujeres más jóvenes.

Eso significó, según los científicos, que no había “propósito alguno” para que las mujeres de más edad continuaran siendo fértiles.

El profesor Rama Singh, el genetista evolutivo que lideró la investigación, dijo que al elegir compañeras más jóvenes los hombres están “afianzando” las circunstancias contra la fertilidad continuada.

“Hay evidencia en la historia humana de que siempre hubo una preferencia por las mujeres más jóvenes”, le dijo Singh a la BBC.

El experto enfatizó que para el estudio examinaron el desarrollo humano desde miles de años atrás, no simplemente patrones de comportamiento social actual.

En Reino Unido la edad media actual en la que las mujeres entran en la menopausia es de 52 años, a pesar de que como media viven 30 años más.

Según Singh, esta longevidad prolongada, unida a la maternidad tardía, podría potencialmente alterar el momento de la menopausia, tras un período temporal significativo.

“El sistema social está cambiando. Hay mujeres que están iniciando una familia más tarde, por motivos educativos o profesionales”, dijo.

Y sugirió que esta tendencia podría retrasar la menopausia en estas mujeres, cuyos genes se transferirían a sus hijas, “con la posibilidad de que la edad de la menopausia se retrase”.

.. ¿O “RESPUESTA EVOLUTIVA”?*

Sin embargo el doctor Maxwell Burton-Chellew, biólogo evolutivo en el departamento de zoología de la Universidad de Oxford, en Inglaterra, desafía la teoría propuesta por el estudio canadiense.

“Es probablemente al contrario: la preferencia del hombre por parejas más jóvenes es probable que se deba a que las mujeres mayores son menos fértiles”, le dijo a la BBC.

“Creo que tiene más sentido interpretar la preferencia del hombre por parejas más jóvenes como una respuesta evolutiva a la menopausia, y asumir que los machos ancestrales habrían hecho una elección inteligente al aparearse con cualquier hembra que pudiese producir hijos”.

“Hablando en términos evolutivos, las mujeres mayores enfrentaron una “elección” interesante: tener un hijo que tal vez no alcance la madurez antes de tu propia muerte o dejar de reproducirte y centrarte en cambio en ayudar a que tus parientes más jóvenes se reproduzcan”.

Cada una puede pensar lo que quiera y dar su opinión, si así lo desea, la mía es que me parece una barbaridad machista basada siempre en lo mismo, la culpa la tiene la mujer.

Pero mi pregunta sería: no será que los hombres debido a la Andropausia ( que también la tienen aunque pueden seguir engendrando) necesitan demostrarse a sí mismo que puede conquistar aunque sea a golpe de talonario?, siguen engendrando pero ¿su autoestima sigue igual? .

Evidentemente que las mujeres sufrimos más avatares debido a la menopausia que los hombres y a veces graves consecuencias, por ello creo que se  debería tener más respeto por ese ciclo, un ciclo por donde pasamos todos aunque las mujeres con la dignidad y la autoestima donde debe estar, sin perder el Norte.

Me parece irrespetuoso que todavía relacionen a la mujer y su poder exclusivamente con la fertilidad, como si ese fuera solo nuestro cometido en la vida.

Que se hable de que el hombre parece estar tan interesado en la reproducción cuando en la mayoría de continentes quien quiere ser madre son las mujeres mientras los hombres huyen o bien se separan porque no pueden aguantar la presión familiar y el dejar de ser el primero de la familia.

Lo lamento pero me parece un estudio machista, irrespetuoso y falto de rigor. Es una pena que se tire el dinero dedicado a la  investigación en estos absurdos que no guardan ninguna relación con la sociedad de hoy en día, ni las necesidades sociales reales.

Me gustaría saber cuántos hombres estarían dispuestos a someterse a tratamientos hormonales y de fertilidad por tener hijos, al igual que hacen las mujeres. Ya que parece que solo estén interesados en ello, según el estudio.

Al final es justificar lo injustificable: La elección de mujeres jóvenes por hombres mayores que les duplican la edad solo para demostrarse a sí mismos que aun sirven para algo. Aunque me gustaría preguntarles a ellas.
