Cuando
hablamos de personajes femeninos, normalmente lo centramos en mujeres que han
hecho algo importante por las propias mujeres o bien han sido ejemplares para
nosotras pero hoy hablaremos de Liu Xia, una mujer de la que hay que decir algo
importante sobre su coraje y su amor.
Ella es poeta,
fotógrafa y pintora pero su talento ha
sido empeñado por su matrimonio. Su marido Liu Xiaobo pasó muchos años en la
cárcel mientras que su esposa ha sufrido arresto domiciliario.
Liu Xia nació
en 1961 dentro de una familia acomodada. Si padre era funcionario del Estado
pero ella prefirió elegir la vía de las artes y las letras llegando a ser una
renombrada poetisa, fotógrafa y pintora.
La poseía fue
la que hizo que se consolidara la amistad con Liu Xiaobo en los 80. El era
graduado en Literatura y en 1989 se convirtió en una figura relevante de las
protestas de Tiananmén en Pekín.
Liu se
casó en 1996 y su banquete de bodas (un
almuerzo) se realizó en la cafetería del campo de reeducación en el que él
estaba internado. Al finalizar, ella recorrió 1600kg de regreso a su casa,
mientras que él, condenado a tres años por criticar el sistema político del
país, se quedó cumpliendo pena.
Mientras
Xiaobo permanecía cumpliendo pena, ella continuó con su producción artística,
gran parte de la cual se perdió con las redadas y confiscaciones. En esa
época, se hicieron las 26 fotografías en
blanco y negro protagonizadas por aterradores muñecos encerrados, que años más
tarde, dieron lugar a la exposición itinerante de La fuerza silenciosa de Liu Xia que se
presentó en Madrid y Barcelona, entre otras ciudades. Era una forma de expresar
la impotencia de la creadora frente a la represión del pueblo chino, dice Guy
Sorman, comisario de la muestra.
En 1999, fue
liberado y regresaron ambos a casa hasta el 2008 , año en el que él fue forzado
a abandonar su hogar para cumplir su sentencia final. Este hogar se convirtió
en una prisión sin barrotes para ella.
El arresto de
él en el 2008 fue por un borrador de una carta que escribió Xiaobo donde pedía
el fín del régimen del partido único en china, aun sabiendo las consecuencias
que le podría acarrear. Lo arrestaron y lo condenaron a 11 años de cárcel por
“incitar a la subversión contra el Estado”. Pero la situación se agravó cuando
se le concedió a él el Nobel de la Paz.
Aunque Xia
nunca fue acusada de nada, permanece recluida en su casa sin acceso a internet,
ni móvil, sin recibir visitas y sometida a una estrecha vigilancia. Desde
entonces , en el 2011, ha tenido pequeñas oportunidades de alguna conexión
breve a internet que aprovecho para enviar algún mensaje a un amigo y decirle
que se sentía muy triste, que solo había visto a su marido una vez y que su
familia era rehén del propio sistema.
En el 2012 dos
periodistas de Associated Press fueron capaces de llegar hasta ella para
hacerle una entrevista y en ella Xia les narró su confinamiento del que solo
podía salir para hacer la compra, ver a sus padres ya muy ancianos y ver a su
marido una vez al mes.
En el 2013,
Liu Xia hizo su primera aparición en público para acudir al juicio de su
hermano, que fue condenado a 11 años de cárcel por apropiación indebida y
puesto en libertad provisional, acto que
se vio como un intento de presión para evitar que ella hablara con activistas,
periodistas…
En 2014 Xia
tuvo que ser llevada de urgencias debido a una depresión importantes y sus
problemas de insomnio debido a la muerte de sus padres y su encierro.
Tras
permanecer ocho años de separación con Xiaobo, se volvieron a unir debido a un
cáncer de hígado que sufría él y que le produjo la muerte. Su marido intento
sacarla del país pero fue imposible y ahora que se encuentra sola se teme por
su vida.

After
remaining eight years of separation with Xiaobo, they were reunited due to a
liver cancer that he suffered and that caused his death. Her husband tried to
get her out of the country but it was impossible and now that she is alone, she
fears for her life.
Liu Xia left
China and traveled to Germany to receive medical treatment, because of her
depression, on July 10, 2018. On the same day, her younger brother, Liu Hui,
who stayed in China, wrote on WeChat social media. , that Liu Xia traveled to
Europe to start his new life there and thanked everyone who helped Liu Xia in
recent years. Liu Hui was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges of fraud
in 2013, but was released in 2015 on bail and the obligation to comply with
strict conditions.
