Okuda: un artista del street art español

Empezaremos por decir que significa el término

“Banksy” (Brístol, Inglaterra, 1975), es el seudónimo de un prolífico artista del street art británico. Aunque los datos acerca de su identidad son inciertos, él estuvo en el documental llamado "Salida a la tienda de regalos" pero se desconocen detalles de su biografía. Según un estudio de la universidad Queen Mary de Londres publicado en marzo de 2016, Robin Gunningham, vecino de Bristol, sería el artista detrás del seudónimo de Banksy. (fuente:Wikipedia).

Oscar San Miguel es el artista que firma como Okuda y que viaja por todo el Mundo para llevar a cabo su arte urbano. Muchos lo califican de grafitero pero la realidad es que en las galerías de Los Angeles y Londres cotiza como artista.

Okuda nació en Cantabria y a partir de los 15 años empezó a pintar letras en las paredes  abandonadas. Se inició en el graffiti cuando era adolescente pero se matriculo en Bellas Artes y ahí empezó  a desarrollar su talento. Su trabajo se cataloga como Street art, dentro del surrealismo pop pero él es un admirador de Bosco y se considera un renacentista aunque a su manera.

Sin embargo, las bellas artes le aportó el gusto por el estudio, un estudio que le gustaba. El aprender historia del Arte, hizo que se nutriera  de la esencia del arte aprendiendo técnicas, estilos y desarrollando capacidades dormidas.

Una de sus características es el amplio abanico de color que plasma en cada una de sus obras, con degrades de color, mezclas de colores fríos y cálidos y sus formas geométricas que terminan por dibujar unos volúmenes increíbles.  Ha trabajado en más de 25 países y eso es lo que más le gusta viajar.

Pero el talento no se cultiva de un día para otro, su evolución artística ha ido evolucionando poco a poco y la maduración de su trabajo se ha hecho gracias a los viajes y a sus asistencias, por todo el mundo, en eventos de grafiti.

El no hace bocetos debido a la cantidad de proyectos que tiene, con lo cual, si tuviera que hacer boceto por proyecto no tendría tiempo libre para poder ver la superficie donde va a crear un nuevo proyecto. Su técnica es sencilla y difícil a la vez, desde abajo mira en perspectiva lo que va a hacer haciéndose un esquema mental, a partir de ahí, no pierde las dimensiones. Pero no está solo, tiene un equipo de trabajo con él. Ellos son los que se ocupan de la gestión de sus obras y proyectos en el mercado del arte para que el pueda dedicarse a ser totalmente creativo y poder tener suficiente tiempo libre para que las ideas fluyan y las pueda plasmar en cada uno de sus proyectos.

Su gran ilusión, en estos momentos, es la de permanecer un periodo de tiempo relativamente largo en España para poder trabajar aquí y poder hacer realidad un par de ilusiones que son crear una obra inspirada en el jardín de las delicias y poder hacer algo en el centro Botín en Santander. Estas serían sus dos ilusiones nacionales.

Okuda: an artist of Spanish street art

Let's start by saying what the term "Banksy" means (Bristol, England, 1975), it is the pseudonym of a prolific British street art artist. Although the data about his identity are uncertain, he was in the documentary called "Exit to the gift shop" but details of his biography are unknown. According to a study by Queen Mary University of London published in March 2016, Robin Gunningham, a resident of Bristol, would be the artist behind the pseudonym Banksy. (source: Wikipedia).

Oscar San Miguel is the artist who signs as Okuda and who travels all over the World to carry out his urban art. Many describe him as a graffiti artist but the reality is that in the galleries of Los Angeles and London he is quoted as an artist.

Okuda was born in Cantabria and from the age of 15 began to paint letters on abandoned walls. He started in graffiti when he was a teenager but he enrolled in Fine Arts and there he began to develop his talent. His work is cataloged as Street art, within pop surrealism but he is an admirer of Bosco and considers himself a Renaissance though in his own way.

However, the fine arts brought him a taste for study, a study he liked. Learning art history, made it nourish the essence of art learning techniques, styles and developing sleeping capacities.

One of its characteristics is the wide range of color that is reflected in each of his works, with color gradients, cold and warm color mixtures and geometric shapes that end up drawing incredible volumes. He has worked in more than 25 countries and that is what he likes most to travel.

But the talent is not cultivated from one day to the next, his artistic evolution has been evolving little by little and the maturation of his work has been done thanks to the trips and his assistances, all over the world, in graffiti events.

He does not make sketches because of the number of projects he has, so if he had to sketch by project he would not have free time to see the surface where he will create a new project. His technique is simple and difficult at the same time, from below he looks in perspective at what he is going to do, making himself a mental scheme, from there, he does not lose the dimensions. But he is not alone, he has a team working with him. They are the ones who take care of the management of their works and projects in the art market so that they can dedicate themselves to be totally creative and have enough free time for ideas to flow and they can be reflected in each of their projects.

His great illusion, at this time, is to stay a relatively long period of time in Spain to be able to work here and be able to make a couple of illusions come true: creating a work inspired by the garden of delights and being able to do something in the Botín center in Santander. These would be his two national illusions.
