Como cada viernes por la tarde,
voy al palacio de la Opera en Coruña para escuchar música clásica y aprender.
Todas las interpretaciones vistas hasta el momento, me han parecido
interesantes y muy bien elegidas. Sin duda, que unas me han llegado más que otras
pero esta semana le tocaba el “turno” a la violinista Jennifer Koh.
Jennifer nació en Chicago y es
hija de padres coreanos. Comenzó a tocar el violín, simplemente porque las
plazas de violonchelo y piano ya estaban
cubiertas. Su debut no se hizo esperar y a los 11 años lo hizo con la Orquesta
Sinfónica de Chicago, ganando posteriormente el Concurso Internacional
Chaikovski de Moscú, entre otros. Es licenciada en Literatura Inglesa por el
Oberlin College.
Es directora artística de “Arco
Collaborative”, una organización sin ánimo de lucro impulsada por artistas que
fomenta una mejor comprensión de nuestro mundo a través de un diálogo musical
inspirado en las ideas y las comunidades que nos rodean.
Es una artista que colabora con
artistas de múltiples disciplinas y realiza proyectos que conectan músicas de
todas las épocas. Cree que la música del pasado y del presenta están siempre
unidas por el hilo conductor de la belleza musical, habiendo estrenado 60 obras
escritas especialmente para ella.
Debo reconocer que su
interpretación atrajo toda mi atención desde el principio. Me comentaron que
era una artista con interpretaciones intensas y muy entregadas a las obras que
interpretaba y así fue. No hubo decepción alguna. Desde el momento en que entro
en el escenario, con su vestido largo de color azul noche, se apoderó del
escenario y de la atención de todos los espectadores dejándonos sin respiración
en más de una ocasión al oír su interpretación.
La envolvía una energía increíble
que podía transmitirnos, una intensidad de interpretación que envolvía a todo
el mundo y lo más apoteósico la vultuosidad y la gran seguridad técnica que
ofreció. Nunca vi dominar un violín ni sacar una paleta de sonidos tan amplia
de este instrumento. Podríamos resumir
su actuación como una ofrenda de virtuosismo, entrega e intensidad al
espectador, siendo imposible quedar indiferente.
Si tenéis la oportunidad de poder
verla o escucharla, no os lo perdáis, no dejan indiferente a nadie. Creo que es
una de esas artistas que tiene la capacidad de poder hacer evolucionar la
música por la música, aportando creatividad, calidad y talento.

Jennifer Koh: a violinist delivered
Like every Friday afternoon, I go
to the Opera Palace in Coruña to listen to classical music and learn. All the
interpretations seen so far, I found interesting and very well chosen. Without
a doubt, some have reached me more than others but this week it was the
"turn" to the violinist Jennifer Koh.
Jennifer was born in Chicago and
is the daughter of Korean parents. He began to play the violin, simply because
the cello and piano squares were already covered. His debut was immediate and
at age 11 he did it with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, later winning the
International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, among others. She has a degree
in English Literature from Oberlin College.
She is the artistic director of
"Arco Collaborative", a non-profit organization driven by artists
that promotes a better understanding of our world through a musical dialogue
inspired by the ideas and communities that surround us.
She is an artist who collaborates
with artists from multiple disciplines and performs projects that connect music
from all eras. She believes that the music of the past and the present are
always linked by the thread of musical beauty, having premiered 60 works
written especially for her.
I must admit that its
interpretation attracted all my attention from the beginning. They told me that
she was an artist with intense interpretations and very dedicated to the works
she played and that's how it was. There was no disappointment. From the moment
she entered the stage, wearing her long blue evening dress, she took over the
stage and the attention of all the spectators, leaving us breathless more than
once when she heard her performance.
It was surrounded by an
incredible energy that could transmit us, an intensity of interpretation that
enveloped everyone, and the most tremendous was the vultuosity and great
technical security it offered. I never saw a violin dominate or take out such a
wide palette of sounds from this instrument. We could summarize his performance
as an offering of virtuosity, dedication and intensity to the spectator, being
impossible to remain indifferent.
If you have the opportunity to
see or hear it, do not miss it, do not leave anyone indifferent. I think she is
one of those artists who has the ability to make music evolve through music,
bringing creativity, quality and talent.
