Lita Cabellut |
admiro.

LITA
CABELLUT IN CORUÑA: TESTIMONY
Place: MAC Gas Natural from October 26, 2017 to April
1, 2018
Organizer: Antón Castro
Not long ago I had the pleasure of attending an
exhibition of Lita Cabellut artist valued all over the world and where,
finally, we can see her in the country where she was born. (PHOTO OF LITA see

Now exhibits in Coruña, city of great cultural
offer, where you can perceive the spirit of this multidisciplinary woman.
Lita is an artist who works with oil, pigment,
sculpture, photography, poetry, audiovisuals ... and her supports are varied as
canvas, paper, etc ...
Their working formats could be called standard,
that is, they have the same size or very similar, rectangular

Testimony summarizes Lita's thinking and her
observation of the world using her creativity, I would say to the limit. With
this exhibition I think that Lita tries to make the visitor / viewer's
conscience react, showing her work and offering the other side, not only of the
coin but also of the soul: The unfortunate, those who are not given a voice or
vision social, or otherwise, those who do not want to hear or see in society
but also have feelings and have much to say.
She is capable of transmitting that suffering to us
through the eyes of her models, her hands, her arrogant pose or praying to
infinity ... the whole composition is a whole and that everything transmits a
powerful meaning to the observer.
His painting refers to expressionism, although in
some works we can see that it uses typical Baroque characteristics. His work
technique is peculiar and a great secret, although we do know that the use of
pigments, sprays and the base work of canvas make the best and the worst of the
human.
His work seems "bipolar" as they range
from the delicacy of expression to the hardness of one's life and its
deterioration. His work is a circle of life, begins with a candid image of the
look and pose of the model, ending with depression and sadness.
His palette of colors is wide and does not discard
colors because his interest in putting skin and soul into his figures leads to
that character reality transmitting feelings.
But we could start the exhibition by saying that
the thread of the works is his own life.
(PHOTO OF THE JARRON see above) The first thing we
see when we begin to see the rooms is a huge white vase emanating from a large
bouquet of flowers solidified by paint. The beauty begins in nature and that is
the beginning of the exhibition because from this moment all we will see will
be the beginning of life until closing that circle with death. But throughout
his journey we will see all those stages accompanied by feelings, bare torsos
letting us see the dejection, pride, youth and the passage of time.
We continue to see portraits of people of half a
torso, naked with their eyes, gestures or posture speak to us and tell us that
some are in the phase of innocence, others in the phase of the passage of time
where their bodies are no longer young and posture is dejection. (PHOTO ONE
POSE MAN see above)
Continuing our visit we see a room presided over by
an "altarpiece" composed of three bodies where the center is reserved
for a portrait of a young man who looks at the sky in an agnostic way but
without aggression or imposition, but as an axis to that composite balance for
religion and secular spirituality. It is a presence that leaves any viewer free
to choose, think and believe in whatever they want. On the right we see on each
shelf objects related to different religions such as Buddhism, Christianity,
Judaism ... and on the left we see objects related to rites and beliefs not
related to what would be considered "religions".
Next to this representation, we can observe a
recreation of what is your workplace, a dense place, full of objects, sprays,
boxes, paint everywhere and your work shoes. As if it were three realities.
(PHOTO OF THE RETABLO AND ITS WORKPLACE see above)
The white silence is the next part of the
exhibition. Overwhelming but very interesting where he shows us with his
triptych White of the Silence a girl dressed in white, dotted with black spots,
in the middle of a dark immensity. It is the rebellion of innocence in the face
of dark desires and violence. (TRIPTICO PHOTO see above)
Another part of his exhibition called The acrobats
of the city seemed arrogant and very real to me. Not only by the impact of the
intensity of colors, the postures adopted by each posed and its protagonist,
anger, anger, the darkest thoughts and feelings of the human being are
reflected in each of these pictures. But not only the pose and color make 100%
of the intensity of the painting, the lights that accompany each one are
masterful, thanks to Lita's knowledge to break those limits that each one has
and which are different.
All are anonymous but if we look at all the figures
they feel and are sure and firm. Their realism with great expressionist
features are focused not only on their challenging aspect but also on the
psychological aspect that their faces convey.
To finish we can talk about the "circle"
floras that closes the exhibition and that gives the finishing touch to all
this wonder called art. This circle represents the end of life and is linked to
the giant flower vase we talked about earlier.
It is a circle made up of flowers and bones,
symbolic objects of fragility. A skeleton located in the center of the circle
and covered by withered leaves and painted flowers, drawing the circle of life
that closes with the dead woman located in the center.
If you have the chance to visit it, do it. It is
worthwhile, not only the works and the creativity of the artist, but also the
place is very apt to be able to value and capture the essence of Lita Cabellut,
which I admire.
