prejuicios sociales. Y creo que el problema radica en
nosotras mismas.
peor). En total suman 700 kg de peso. Hace no demasiado tiempo , no hubieran
no demasiado sanas.
kilos. Es la ganadora del concurso. “yo me gusto.

MISS GORDITA: A NEW
SOCIAL PHENOMENON
We continue talking about fat and thin,
stereotypes and social prejudices. And I think the problem lies with ourselves.
Woman is the most cruel, hard and inflexible being I have ever known because
far from supporting us and helping things to improve for us, we have the gift
to demand more and more. It seems that all the pressure exerted by society on
us makes us prisoners of the environment forcing others to go through the same
suffering or seeing that suffering as something normal where we all have to go.
I am a woman and I speak because somehow, I
have behaved that way and only when I think and I am aware, I can relax but
with effort, since the society and the environment also pressured me, convinced
me and got me to see The world like the others wanted him to see life.
One thing is what we say, speak and express
"politically correct" and another very different what we think,
especially women. But the worst thing is to see how the female sex applies the
scorn and meanness to women when talking about beauty, aesthetic and physical.
We have it engraved on fire and it is not easy to get rid of the
discriminations by helping, with force, the beauty system that is established.
However, Miss Gordita is celebrated in
Paraguay; The beauty of overweight women where the minimum weight of the
aspirants is 95 kilos. Source: Papel magazine. Original article written by Luis
Cobelo.
A group of women have a common denominator,
social discrimination for being fat or fat (even worse). In total they add 700
kg of weight. Not too long ago, they would not have been able to show their
body but the beauty contest has allowed it.
Miss Gordita Paraguay is celebrated in the
capital, Asunción, where young people between 95 and 120 kilos of weight
compete for a title that is not for the fattest, nor for the most tidy nor the
most beautiful ... the real prize is to accept as they are.
The creator of the contest, Michel Beras,
Brazilian of origin, had the initiative with the aim of enhancing the beauty of
women who do not follow the canons of beauty established by society or by
fashion. It seeks to break with unfair discrimination towards overweight
people.
When they started, in 2012, there were no
spaces for fat girls on the runways and less on beauty pageants. Actually, if
you look, there is no TV presenter that is not pretty and thin, even if you use
plastic surgery or not too healthy diets.
In its last edition, the contest gained a lot
of strength. Taking advantage of the media pull, he decided to sneak into
Paraguayan politics. Beras has made a proposal to Congress to exclude the
requirement of "good presence" of job vacancies, as well as prohibit
asking for photos or age limit.
This contest is open to all kinds of criticism.
They are accused of promoting that being fat is good, when it is an obvious
health problem. Although the promoters talk about eating healthy and not overdo
it but the goal is not to lose weight since you have to accept yourself as one
is but without being forced to be in a certain way.
In Miss Gordita girls are the stars. The
organization offers them nutrition workshops, image counseling and
psychological help three months before the parade. The winner, received as a
prize a trip to Brazil, appliances, clothes, dental treatments, as well as
makeup and hairdressing free for several months. The goal is to find themselves
and not hide in themselves.
This is a way of recognizing realities and not
being embarrassed by it, on the contrary, it is necessary, to know oneself, to
look for options and to respect itself to be included in society as a human
being.
Stories have been several but among them Bianca
19 years and 98 kilos that says: "my boyfriend asked for twice as much
food for me, so that he gained weight and no man noticed me"
Ana, 26 years and 106 kilos "I am free,
inside and out. Some say I'm not beautiful. I like what I see in the mirror.
"
Romina is 24 years old and weighs 95 kilos. She
is the winner of the contest. "I like myself. And if I lose weight it's
for health, not because I do not like being chubby. "
I think we must begin to see these people as
such and not as something exceptional, only then we can go ahead and be more
fair and less demanding. The important thing is to be well with oneself and to
be healthy, the rest is secondary but for this we must collaborate all,
including the brands of clothing, fashion ... there must be young, sexy, and
pretty fashion for sizes beyond size 42 and We do not feel like bugs when you
say, "Do you have a bigger size? And let them tell you whether or not you
look up and down. "
