ASTRAGALO AND ITS
PROPERTIES
It is a very popular legume of Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM) which is known as Huang qi. Chinese researchers know their root
stimulates the number of macrophages in the blood, which increases their
ability to phagocytosis and promotes increased production of a substance called
interferon.
Interferon is a protein produced by the immune system
naturally in response to viruses or other external agents or in case there are
cancer cells.
In TCM often used very often combined with other herbs in
preparations to treat all kinds of disorders: heart disease, liver disease,
kidney disease, some cancers, type viral infections and disorders of the immune
system.
Polysaccharides and
immune system
The interest in the plant and its growing popularity has
soared recently discovered that the root was rich in polysaccharides
stimulating the immune system, as well as other interesting active ingredients
(saponins, flavonoids) capable of influencing many diseases. What is certain is
that a plant is able to stimulate or regulate the nervous and immune systems
and hormonal universe.
Antivirus
One of the main functions of Huang Qi or Astragalus is its
potent antiviral activity. Improved defenses, for example, in patients with
dialysis for kidney failure, systemic lupus erythematosus and myasthenia. It
also affects the antineoplastic activity and increases white and red blood
cells. It is also used to treat hypertension.
In case of severe
diseases
Astragalus is used successfully to treat general weakness
and chronic fatigue syndrome, but now is being applied to patients with AIDS,
viral hepatitis, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension and immune disorders
of all kinds. It is also used in asthma, peptic ulcer, respiratory problems,
diarrhea and infections. Besides MTC also used in diabetes, heart disease and
what is now known as Alzheimer's disease.
Precautions
Some herbalists and herbalists do not recommend its use in
case of fever. It is also advisable not to use it during an acute infection but
reserve to strengthen the body once it has begun to heal. As in most
adaptogens, it is recommended but is not routinely used in case of disorder
during sickness and for 3-4 weeks at most. Continued use causes the effect of
very significantly lost.
