THE NEW ADAN AND EVA
Faced with the future that we
have and that scares some citizens are taking refuge in the longing for the
past. Retro mobiles, organic food, spiritual retreats ... all seem to indicate
that we are facing a new movement that wants to leave the world of
technologies, transgenics, evolution and resume contact with nature and be as
close as possible to our origin. Maybe we are facing a new anti-progress
movement.
In the seventeenth century a
group of Swiss doctors devised a pioneering treatment of nostalgia, then
considered a disease. The recipe consisted of the combination of opium, leeches
and a walk in the mountain .. but all this did not have an effect. Today we
continue to struggle against the same malaise but I would not dare say that we
are facing a disease, but rather a reflection due to the world we live in and
the future that awaits us. But this nostalgia for the past has become a
pandemic due to the general disenchantment of everything around us. Source:

Increasingly, people are more
aware of using "Bio" products even if that means paying something
more, especially if these people come from other countries where this culture
has long existed. We could catalog it fashionably since everything has its
cycle in life: we started with the car of the modern, urban, technology,
artificial intelligence ... and then we realize that we lose things along the
way and in each Step towards development, with which, we go back to find the
origin and contact with the natural.
The Polish sociologist Zygmunt
Bauman already glimpsed this phenomenon in his essay Retrotopia, published a
few weeks ago. He warned that the future has ceased to be the natural habitat
of hopes to become a nightmare scenario. "The terror to lose the work and
the social status associated with it, the terror to which we confiscate the
home and the rest of our goods and belongings, the terror to contemplate
impotent how our children fall without remedy by the descending spiral of the
loss Of well-being and prestige, and the terror to see the competences that it
took us so much to learn and memorize, stripped of the little market value that
could be left to them. "
Manuel Cruz, professor of
Philosophy and author of Being without time and the bad past of the past
defines the time in which we live and his desire for flashback with a near
slogan: "The end of utopias." What has happened so that more and more
people want to return to the field, to the manual, to what can be touched ...?
"The power of the scientific-technical complex has exploded in such a way,
we are so powerless to control it, we perceive it more as a threat than as a
promise of the future," emphasizes Cruz.
According to a report from the
association IAB Spain, Facebook and Twitter are down one hour compared to 2016.
Spotify, telegram and pinterest lose half an hour, youtube, a quarter ...
interestingly only whatsapp, the only one that imitates physical face to face,
manages to maintain Frequency of use.
Perhaps this "slave"
fatigue and dedication to social networks contrasts with the joyful sales
figures around the world of products that seemed to be displaced by the
revolution 4.0: photo reels, board games, notebooks and pens, hand clocks ...
The association Promusicae certifies that in Spain 433,000 copies were sold in
this format in 2016 (19.6% more than in the previous year).
Agulles is a doctor in sociology.
He does not work teaching in the university, but in a center for homeless
people and that means that he knows so well the motivations of those who want
to flee from the city as those of those who fight to become integrated in it.
In his opinion, urban dissatisfaction leads to the search for paradise
requested, although he warns: "the rural world has also been industrialized
... so much so that it is possible that walking on an avenue of a big city is
not necessarily more harmful to our health than Rural coexistence with a
multitude of pesticides "" it is not the urban environment that most
damages the health of its inhabitants, but the lack of freedom and the
harmfulness of absurd work, seclusion in the individual confinement of
consumption, complete delegation Of any responsibility to the complexity of an
agglomeration in which the human becomes mass. "
New concepts:
Techno-relativists: They live
mainly in an urban environment. They see with skepticism (or disinterest) the
technological development. They prefer to buy a Seat 600 to wait for the car
without driver, they are worried that the reading of the gas will be made with
QR code and use "post it" instead of audio notes. They value more and
more the solitude and the silence.
Agroexiliados: They have moved
from the city to the countryside for economic reasons (not necessarily related
to the crisis). They see in the compost a work exit, they enjoy telling their
friends when the cock crows and they make their own jam. They try to recreate
the urban ecosystem in the natural environment. They trust the internet to stay
current.
Urbalérgicos: They live, very to
spite, in the city. They are the best informed about climate change. They
console themselves by planting tomatoes on the terrace (if they have one),
educate their children in the domestic separation of waste and curse every
minute they lose in a traffic jam. Take advantage of the holidays to go to the
mountains or the village.
Irreducible: They were born and
live in a rural environment that they have never considered leaving. They
firmly believe that agro-industry and rural tourism guarantee the future. They
mourn the malls, they think that there is no greater luxury than a burning fire
and they do not care too much that the cell phone runs out of coverage.
These are small notes of the
"modern setback" of society to get to live in a healthier environment
but without giving up the advances like internet, heating, etc ... is not a
criticism but a fact to consider since if someone Decides to live as before by
conviction or by fashion, would be without the advances of today that make life
simpler. Like everything in life, everything has its bad part and its good
part.
