EL SENDERO BARRANCO BALLESTEROS

Este sendero se encuentra en Totana Murcia. Es de tipo circular ubicado en Sierra Espuña. Y si podéis hacerla y disfrutarla, no dudéis. Es un sendero circular, con lo cual, te permite descubrir mil cosas desde el principio hasta el final sin repetir miradores, ni paisajes. La distancia total era de 9,3 km y oficialmente necesitaríamos 3,30h aunque nosotros lo hicimos en 3h. Que nadie piense que somos unos “divos”, no, es que se puede hacer bien y la dificultad no es nada alta.

El inicio fue en el Aula de la Naturaleza de las Alquerías cogiendo la senda PR 60 (línea blanca y amarilla). El sendero está muy bien señalizado y limpio con lo cual, no hay peligro alguno de perdida ni de heridas aunque hay que vigilar y tener cuidado. El desnivel de subida es de 421m y el de bajada los mismos. No es difícil ni demasiado duro aunque se requiere de una pequeña preparación física para que rodillas ni gemelos sufran más de lo normal.

Las grandes repoblaciones de Sierra Espuña a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX han dado lugar a una masa forestal única en nuestra Región, siendo el pino carrasco la especie más abundante en sus laderas. Este bello recorrido permite disfrutar en todo momento de ese mar de pinos que se extiende ante nuestros ojos, estando en ocasiones acompañado de retazos de encinar, como en las zonas altas del Barranco de los Ballesteros.

Este sendero combina dos senderos de pequeño recorrido: el PR-MU-60 y su variante 60.1 desde las Alquerías hasta el Collado de las Yeseras por el Barranco de los Ballesteros; y el PR-MU-61, desde este mismo collado hasta las Alquerías por la Senda del Lentisco.

Remontaremos en primera instancia la ladera oeste de Las Cunas (PR-MU-60), observando antiguas terrazas donde se sustentaban los árboles replantados y siguiendo en todo momento las marcas blancas y amarillas. Conforme ganamos altura, romeros y espartales crecen bajo el pinar. Los enebros, y las hierbas aromáticas están por doquier. Si tenéis la suerte de hacer la excursión en un día soleado y algo fresco, como nosotros, veréis que el aroma, las hierbas y la olor a pino inunda el lugar por donde vayas.

Al sur divisaremos la población de Aledo y la Sierra de la Tercia. Hay un par de miradores increíbles desde donde se puede divisar la reforestación de pino Doncella así como el torreón de Aledo y los cultivos.

Sobrepasados los 1.100 metros nos internaremos en la inconfundible y exuberante umbría del Barranco de los Ballesteros, entre coscojas y espino negro, y encinas que se entremezclan con el pinar. En algún tramo la estrechez hace que pongamos atención y , a su vez, observar la composición de la sierra y observar la belleza del lugar.

 En continuado descenso hacia el Collado del Pilón (variante 60.1), seguiremos la estela del cortafuegos, dejando antes el cruce donde el PR-MU-60 sigue subiendo hasta el Collado Bermejo, que nosotros no hicimos puesto que no sabíamos lo que nos esperaba el resto del camino y tampoco sabíamos qué tipo de dificultad nos requeriría. En la bajada disfrutaremos de algún magnífico murete de mampostería y de tramos de senda recuperados por los sucesivos campos de voluntariado ambiental. Antes de cruzar la carretera en el Collado del Pilón, en dirección a los restos de los antiguos hornos de cocción de yesos, nos recrearemos con la emblemática silueta del Morrón de Espuña y con el vasto horizonte arbóreo que se nos ofrece bajo el mirador allí presente. La bajada hacia las Alquerías por la llamada 'Senda del Lentisco' (PR-MU-61) nos hace constatar el por qué de este nombre. Un cómodo descenso nos conducirá a nuestro lugar de inicio, finalizando este itinerario por uno de los rincones más bellos de este espacio protegido.

TREKKING: CANYON TRAIL BALLESTEROS

We descry the population south of Aledo and the Sierra de la Tercia. There are a couple of incredible viewpoints from where you can see pine reforestation Maiden and the tower of Aledo and crops.
