Ya sé que el Invierno ya pasó
pero volverá y por ello quiero hablar de algunos productos que nos ofrece esta
temporada llena de propiedades para superar las inclemencias del tiempo. En
Invierno, su generosidad se vuelca con los bulbos y la hoja verde pero también
hay frutas coloridas y vistos como los lichi, naranjas, achicorias, etc…
Puerro: Es ligero y depurativo. Ideal para las dietas y bajar peso.
Son sus principales cualidades. Casi todo su peso es agua, por lo que tiene
pocas calorías, y además es rico en fibra, lo que favorece la sensación de
saciedad al comerlo.
Es cardioprotector. El puerro
contiene folato, un nutriente que ayuda a regular el nivel en sangre de una
enzima (la homocisteína) que en concentraciones elevadas se considera un factor
de riesgo cardiovascular.
Es rico en alicina. Este
nutriente, presente también en el ajo y la cebolla, lo podrás aprovechar si
cortas el puerro y esperas 5 minutos antes de cocinarlo o comerlo crudo. La
alicina tiene efectos antibióticos y antiinflamatorios.
Lichi: Es una fuente de vitamina C. Esta pequeña fruta originaria
de China es rica en esta vitamina y en bioflavonoides, unos nutrientes
antioxidantes que protegen el sistema vascular, al fortalecer los vasos
sanguíneos y aportarles flexibilidad.
Es apto para diabéticos. El lichi
contiene aldosa reductasa, un componente que, al parecer, juega un papel
protector ante complicaciones relacionadas con la diabetes, en especial las
oculares.
Un estudio de la Universidad de
Chiang Mai (Tailandia) ha demostrado que animales alimentados con lichis
presentaban unos niveles de transaminasas bajos y su hígado estaba más sano.
Borraja: Como la mayoría de las hortalizas de hoja verde, la
borraja es un alimento muy bajo en calorías. Además, atesora nutrientes
esenciales y terapéuticos.
Es sudorífera. Esta propiedad de
la borraja a la hora de aumentar la sudoración ayuda a combatir dolencias
relacionadas con el pecho, como el resfriado, la tos o la bronquitis.
El aceite de borraja es una
fuente de beneficios, entre ellos destaca su poder antiinflamatorio, gracias a
la presencia de ácido gamma-linolénico. Tomado en forma de perlas, el aceite de
borraja se utiliza como tratamiento para la artritis. Y también es bueno para
paliar el malestar del síndrome premenstrual.
Naranja: Esta fruta así como los cítricos siempre se asocia a la
vitamina C, esencial para el crecimiento y
la reparación de tejidos del cuerpo. También contiene betacarotenos, que
protegen de enfermedades degenerativas.
Es capaz de reducir la presión
arterial y dificulta la formación de trombos en las arterias, lo que convierte
a la naranja en una fruta protectora ante las enfermedades cardiovasculares.
Un estudio reciente ha constatado
que la ingesta de zumo de naranja es beneficiosa en niños con infecciones en el
tracto respiratorio, al reducir la repetición de nuevos contagios.
