El día 18 de
abril es la fiesta del Bando de la Huerta en Murcia. Es un día grande para la
ciudad, una ciudad bonita y llena de cultura y color. Llegan las fiestas de
Primavera, celebradas la semana posterior a Semana Santa.
En sus
balcones cuelgan grandes mantones coloristas, la ciudad se encuentra llena de
luz y temperatura un tanto elevada para la fecha y la gente enardecida de
orgullo por su fiesta, una fiesta muy propia y con mucha personalidad.
El DESFILE DEL
BANDO DE LA HUERTA fue declarado en 2012 como interés Turístico Internacional.
Esta fiesta,
como tantas otras en España, es una fiesta, además , gastronómica, donde
nuestro paladar puede ser deleitado por la degustación de platos típicos como
son: michirones, pipirrana o zarangollo, sin olvidar los típicos Paparajotes.
Pero no avancemos acontecimientos.
La cabalgata
está compuesta por bandas de música, gigantes y cabezudos, grupos de baile y
carrozas tiradas por tractores, en las cuales se muestran elementos típicos de
la huerta murciana. Desde estas carrozas, personas vestidas con trajes de época
reparten alimentos propios de la gastronomía de la región, tales como
morcillas, longanizas, salchichas o habas y bebidas como vino o cerveza.
Uno de tantos
atractivos que tiene esta fiesta es que durante todo el día la ciudad , o un
gran número de murcianos , pasan la jornada en la calle ataviados con trajes de
huertanos y huertanas. Los parques del centro de la ciudad se llenan de jóvenes
que se reúnen para hacer "botelleo", permitido durante este día y
rodeados de barracas. Las barracas son esos centros gastronómicos donde todo el
mundo converge para tomar tapas, vinos y cervezas pero también para comer buen
arroz, carne, etc…
El origen de este evento parece remontarse a
1851, año en el que unos jóvenes acomodados acordaron organizarlo con la
intención de burlarse, en cierto modo, de las gentes de la huerta. Actualmente esta
motivación originaria ha desaparecido por completo y el Bando ha pasado a ser
todo lo contrario: una celebración en honor de la huerta y las tradiciones a

En realidad la
huerta murciana es digna de estar orgulloso de ella no solo por los vergeles
que podemos encontrar llenos de naranjos y limoneros, que en esta época huelen
a azahar y dejan en algunas zonas un aroma que te transporta al cielo, también
por los productos que esta tierra fértil nos ofrece temporada tras temporada
como los tomates, lechugas, rábanos, coles de Bruselas, etc… con sabores
propios y llenos de nutrientes.

Pero hablemos
un poco del folklore y cultura de la zona.
La barraca era
la vivienda típica de la huerta, y en las Fiestas de Primavera se convierte en
un lugar donde pasar un buen rato y degustar la gastronomía más típica de
Murcia.
La barraca ha
sido la vivienda típica de la huerta murciana. Su bajo coste ha sido quizás la
clave de su proliferación. Sus muros están levantados de atobas o adobe, una
mezcla de paja y barro, y su techumbre, a dos aguas, era de cañas y barro.
Su interior se
solía articular en dos estancias o cuartos. La primera era en la que se
encontraba el fogarín o cocina, la chimenea, el tinajero y el jarrero que Jara
Carrillo reconoce como el rincón más hermoso de la casa del huertano. En el
segundo, más al fondo se encontraba la habitación. Que solía tener alguna
ventana.
Lo reducido de su espacio se debe a las buenas
condiciones climáticas de la zona, por lo que la vida se solía desarrollar en
el exterior de la barraca. Los rebancos en la puerta y la parra no solían
faltar.
También
estaban el pesebre para los animales, el horno moruno de forma circular en el
que se hacía el pan.
Las barracas
solían estar coronadas por una cruz de madera o metal, símbolo de la
religiosidad popular de la huerta.
Así, estas
casas típicas se insertaban en el vergel que era la Huerta de Murcia,
escondidas entre los limoneros y naranjos con su suave olor a azahar. Para
hacerse una idea certera es recomendable visitar la Barraca de Alcantarilla.
Un total de 45
barracas se encuentran distribuidas por las calles de la ciudad, cada una de
ellas perteneciente a una peña huertana. En ellas se puede uno sentar y comer
los productos que ofrecen y estar al fresco tomando una cerveza y una buena
ensalada murciana.
Es una fiesta
alegre y coloristas conmemorando la Primavera. Las noches son frescas pero solo
con una chaquetita se puede uno pasear toda la noche de barraca en barraca,
hablando, bebiendo. Mirando al cielo y poder decir : “que estación más llena de
alegría, la primavera”.

A total of 45 barracks are distributed in the
streets of the city, each one belonging to an huertana rock. In them you can
sit down and eat the products they offer and be al fresco with a beer and a
good Murcian salad.
It is a joyful party and colorful celebrating
the spring. The nights are cool but only with a jacket you can walk all night
from barraca in barraca, talking, drinking. Looking at the sky and being able
