Ocupan un lugar especial entre los adornos del hogar,

como seres vivos que son, y además generan su propio flujo de energía.

Esta energía viva renueva el ambiente y contrarresta el influjo de los materiales “muertos” presentes en las casas modernas, la radiación de los electrodomésticos y la energía estática que producen el plástico y otros materiales sintéticos. Conviene cuidarlas muy bien; las hojas enfermas y los tallos secos afectan negativamente el Chi.

Según su color, su forma y la forma de sus hojas y flores, las plantas ejercen distintos efectos.

Las plantas con hojas puntiagudas son más Yang y aceleran el flujo de energía. Las de hojas redondeadas o colgantes son más Yin y mitigan el chi. Las bajas y frondosas, tipo  arbusto, ralentizan su circulación y pueden resultar muy eficaces en  los pasillos largos o al lado de las puertas.

Las plantas altas potencian la energía Chi dela madera, las que tienen pinchos u hojas estrelladas puntiagudas refuerzan la del fuego y las enredaderas bajas producen energía de la tierra. Las hojas  pequeñas y redondeadas estimulan la energía del metal, al igual que las formas redondeadas en general, y las plantas colgantes la energía del agua. El color verde de las hojas también incrementa la energía de la madera, pero, si dan flor, están asociadas a la energía que corresponde al color de sus flores. Las flores frescas añaden energía viva a al ambiente del hogar.

Las vibraciones de su color, y en menor medida su forma, afectan la energía Chi de las habitaciones. Corta los tallos en diagonal para que duren más tiempo, cambia el agua cada día y retira los pétalos muertos. Las flores marchitas ejercen un efecto negativo.

En Occidente las flores secas son bastantes apetecidas, pero dentro del Feng Shui simbolizan el deterioro y la muerte, al menos para algunas personas. En realidad, es una cuestión de gustos y preferencias: los maestros del Feng Shui recomiendan, en este caso las flores secas hechas de materiales como la seda o el papel.

Una flores color crema  en el norte, flores blancas en el nordeste, ramas y frondosas en el este, flores de tallo largo o azules en el sureste, flores con forma de estrella o de color violeta enel suroeste, en el centro y el oeste flores cortas y amarillas y,  en el nordeste, flores blancas de pétalos redondeados.
