Fuente: Avianca Maria Cristina Pignalosa

PEDRO RUIZ: TERRIBLE BEAUTY
This Colombian artist feels, thinks and loves art. His work addresses the deterioration of nature and a concern for their abuse, but also love as the highest expression of human being.

The concept of "world reencantado" which refers primarily to man and nature, can sum up the life and work of Bogota artist Pedro Ruiz, born in 1957 The existential and aesthetic concerns of this restless artist, are his passions simultaneously.
It is a small studio with beautiful natural light, full of sketches, paintings in progress and other finished, Ruiz says that painting is not a job, "it's my life," he says without hesitation, knowing a person who values our ancestors Columbian and is proud to be Colombian. It aims, in fact, claim your work culture of their country against more advanced societies.

Its success is possibly because "is a work that reaches the heart of the people." So says the artist, who believes that achieving establish communication with all audiences is a major achievement and is the reason why it has had such an impact. "It is a sincere work that opens a new perspective on Colombia, the world and the universe, and has generated public interest," says.

This artist has come in all different times and through different channels. "Nothing has been easy and free, but it has come to me spontaneously," says the author of paintings infected with a look and the alchemical converging, humanity, matter, energy and spirit of the sacred, while strong, are imbued with terrible realities.
When it comes to the truth, especially in Pedro Ruiz is a matter of heart. As your project Love is In the Air, in which large paintings with planes that ply beautiful blue skies are actually planes fumigate and refer to the destruction of nature, and also, where there are a number of scenes in fields covered with beautiful red flowers: poppies, the "damn flowers." Everything has a dose of reality.

The artist says Gold: Spirit and nature of a territory was the start of his endless creativity. All you admire is included in that series that summarizes, in 30 small pieces that require a magnifying glass to be observed, Colombian history, with both plastic and conceptual precision. The meaning of gold, not as material but as a spiritual value, is the linchpin of the entire sequence. Parade in paints everything we are: beautiful palm trees, jaguars, blue butterflies, parrots canoes and lonely rowers; but thirty canoes that carry the most characteristic values of the country and painful.
On this series, the artist says: "I wanted to show a friendly Colombia. The work is the idea of teaching an image of the innocence of a country that has a very complicated image outside our borders. "

Then comes a series entitled Displacements where people load in small canoes, all your own territory. Es a moving sequence that subtly speaks a harsh daily reality.

Currently, Ruiz begins an affair with sculpture. Modeling shapes and forms that are then converted into bronze. It is a new language that forces you to study. Some of the resulting pieces and donated to the Green Heart Foundation.
