piernas.

Gordolobo
The first time I heard it and saw it was in a
museum in Sierra Espuña and I thought it would be very difficult to find it but
I was wrong, if we make the effort to go through some routes, already marked,
and at a certain height, this plant can be found Easily and visible yet easier.
Now I'm talking about her.
Let's start by describing this biannual plant a
bit. The gordolobo (Verbascum thapsus) is a plant that belongs to the family of
scrophulariaceae. It has an erect stem that can reach up to two meters in
height. Its leaves, are of an intense green color big, soft and slightly hairy
that are distributed in the plant of alternating form. The flowers of the
mulatto are yellow, have no peduncle and are grouped in a spike, which appears
in the second year. These form irregular, one-inch wide coptas, with five
rounded petals inserted into woolly chalices. The fruit is an ovoid capsule
that is not consumed because it is toxic
It is a plant native to Europe and is currently
cultivated in the Mediterranean area and in countries such as Germany, the
United States, Belgium, Switzerland and Hungary.
As we know, Spain has arrived a wave of polar
cold that has caused a sharp drop in temperatures. And this is one of the
issues that influence our respiratory system resent, being more predisposed to
catch colds, constipated and even the flu. Situation that is repeated every
year at different times.
The gordolobo is part of the group of pectoral
species that, among other things, for its benefits and properties, are used in
the treatment of inflammations in the airways such as throat inflammation,
constipation and colds.
Property gordolobo
In case we have pain and inflammation of the
throat, cough, bronchitis etc ..., the gordolobo becomes a really good plant to
relieve our respiratory system.
It has a series of softening mucilages and
anti-inflammatory harpagósidos that allow the use of its flowers in the
inflammations of the throat and the traqueítis.
It also has aucubósido, whose analgesic and
antimicrobial properties complement therefore the softening action of mucilages
in the treatment of chronic and acute bronchitis.
Benefits of gordolobo
Among the different
properties of the gordolobo, the following benefits stand out especially:

Since the antiquity already knew the curative
properties of the gordolobo. In this sense, Greek doctors, like Hippocrates,
knew the softening effect of leaves on traumatized tissues while Dioscorides
recommended it to eliminate bruising and as a remedy for chronic cough and
respiratory tract infections.
In ancient Rome it was used for cosmetic
purposes, since the women applied the yellow pigment of the flowers to lighten
their hair.
In the Middle Ages, gordolobo was very useful,
especially by St. Hildegard because of its antispasmodic qualities in cases of
nervous breakdown, anxiety, panic attack, palpitations, cardiac arrhythmias and
neuralgias. The gordolobo was introduced in North America in the middle of the
seventeenth century.
Nowadays, it has been verified that the
gordolobo is a plant that contains, especially in its leaves, saponins which
have cicatrizant properties. Hence it is applied, as a poultice, to the wounds,
and also in the external hemorrhoids, sores, ulcers and burns. It also helps to
